Alpha Senior

Grades: 11th, 12th

The Alpha Senior program touches on the groups that campers participate in outside of camp. Group Interaction and Event Planning are important components of the LEADERSHIP section of the Alpha Senior program.

Campers will get learn about getting permission, promoting and planning an actual event at camp, and learn all the skills to implement an event in their community, school or in a job setting. These skills will be very important to campers in the later years of high school and as they prepare for post secondary education.

Alpha Senior campers will learn many valuable skills in the LEADERSHIP section which apply to their lives. In order to pass the Alpha Senior program, campers are must to complete 7 of 9 components.

These Components are:

Defining Leadership – At the Alpha Senior camper level we strive to help our campers discover what their leadership style truly is. These firm choices will help our campers have a firm grasp on who they are and how they react to the world around them.
Organization – Alpha Senior campers at YLCC are in charge of planning our most important event at camp, our end of session banquet.
Communication – Campers must learn to work with the many levels of the camp. This will require effective communication skills.
Conflict Resolution – Campers are put under pressure to pull off our most important camp wide event. Throughout this process they will be faced with many problems, and they will put there skills to work in finding solutions.
Goal Setting – We will take time during each Alpha Senior session to help campers discover what their goals are and how they should go about reaching them. Short term and long term goal setting tactics are taught.
Permission – Learning the value of respecting those around you is a skill that is taught in the Alpha Senior Program
Promotion – Alpha Senior campers learn the importance of making their event attractive to those attending and how to promote the camp program to people and the community around them.
Planning – As states our Alpha Senior level campers are in charge of PLANNING the biggest single event during each camp session. Skills are not only taught but put into practical application.
Prime Directives - The central focus of the YLCC program. Alpha Senior campers will take a very indepth look at how these prime directives can and will impact their lives in a positive way.
