Counsellor In Training (CIT)

Grades: 12+

For COUNSELLORS IN TRAINING, 17 year olds who have completed Alpha Senior Program and one Initiative program, minimum requirement. developing skills in the areas of program planning and facilitation, leadership styles and techniques and camp counselling. Completing the CIT program is the first and most important step to becoming a YLCC staff member. Applicants are selected based on their leadership interests, experience and potential. The application process and accompanying questionnaire will determine acceptance to the CIT program. (2 week session) YLCC is unique because EVERY counselor at YLCC is a graduate of one of our many Alpha Programs. Many have also completed the Initiatives and Adventurer programs to allow them to experience needed additional skills to staff at YLCC.

CIT is not just another rung in the ladder of leadership it is our Excellence program.

The CIT focuses on developing skills in the areas of camp counseling, program planning, leadership styles and techniques, as well as the classic camp activities. CIT’s instruct alongside certified YLCC staff in various program areas, as well as large camp activities. Applicants must be turning 17 year of age in 2005. There is a questionnaire and application process. Not all that apply will be accepted. Campers must have completed the Senior Alpha program to apply for a CIT position.

To increase acceptance status, it is recommended to finish Initiative and/or Adventurer programs before beginning the Excellence Program process. Applicants are selected based on leadership interest, experience, and potential. A $50 deposit must be received by May 1st, 2005.
