Teachers Testimonials

  • "May 3, 2010 Stu address students from all SCDSB schools when they were at the YLCC Leadership Training Centre. Below are some of the messages that students learned during Stu's message:

-Appreciate your school environment. It only takes one person to begin making a difference. Taking a risk of doing something your fearful of can bring great reward.

-Always try and be the best you can be, be able to laugh at yourself, include others, be true to yourself.

-Work towards being comfortable in your own skin, even in an environment that is not within our comfort zone. Get involved

-I think Stu would be great addressing at-risk teens. His message was around the importance of attitude and choices in having success and having a good experience in high school. This is certainly a pertinent message for students with whom an SST works daily - and the humourous approach is always a winner!

-Get involved when you come to high school. Make the most of your high school years. You get out of high school what you put into it

-Be yourself when you get to high school, you will be fine just being yourself.

-The Axe doesn't work. Be yourself and try new things.

-School is more than the physical space - it's the attitude and spirit inside the building.
-Universality of the transition to high school and that it will all be okay in the end

  • "The students really enjoyed Stu's humour and low-key but critical message about getting involved and getting the most out of their High School experience. I would recommend Stu as a speaker who relates well to students, is funny, and gets the message out without preaching.

    Thank you,

    Lynn

  • "“He is the most awesome guy you will ever meet”. Really holds the group’s attention and passed on skills, knowledge and expertise that they will be able to use for a lifetime. All the Youth Forum participants LOVED him I can’t think of a thing that I would change about how Stu worked with our National Youth Leadership Forum. I am just sorry that we did not have more time to spend with him and that not more provinces and territories were present to learn from him.

    Sincerely,

  • "I thought that Stu had a firm grasp on what we were trying to accomplish through our camp. He was able to reinforce those important ideals in a way that the students found very entertaining. 1 very mature grade 12 student said “You could not have picked a better speaker for this trip.”

  • "I have already recommended Stu to others. Stu is a hilarious and wonderful individual and a GREAT performer. He has this wonderfully casual way of speaking to a group, which makes him approachable, real and engaging. His stories have you laughing, crying and laughing until you’re crying. You may even wet your pants!!

  • "In each of the past three years, the Child Witness Centre of Waterloo Region has hosted a Youth Symposium for 1,200 grade 7 and 8 students. Stu Saunders has presented twice, and each time got rave reviews as the best speaker at the event. Stu's humorous journey through his own life experiences makes for a powerful and inspirational message--one that is life-changing for many of the students attending.

We look forward to having Stu Saunders back soon!

  • "My name is Allanda. I attended the Student Council Conference in St. Andrews, New Brunswick ' 05. I was just researching about you on the internet, because I thought you did a spectacular job. I am president at my school this year, and I use to walk around the school with my head hanging down facing the floor. And at my student council meetings I would name a topic and let everyone else decide on it and wouldn't even put my ideas on the table to be thought about. I have always been scared they were going to laugh and make fun of me. I have always been bullied and don't want that as SCR President. But you changed my mind. I'm going to take a chance and be that 5 year old kid who everybody loves. And the 5 year old that doesn't care what anybody thinks about them. I guess what I am trying to say is thank you.

You probably don't get that as much as you deserve, so I’m going to say it again thank you. I really needed someone like you. My family consists of me, my mom and my sister. My mom works full-time and I don’t know how she is doing it. And I especially don't know how she finds time for my sister and me. So it's pretty hard, I work part-time, have student council, softball, volleyball and badminton. And I was starting to doubt myself, but after I heard you speak I realized I could.
