Dream - Dare - Do. These are the pillars of YLCC, the summer camp that I run in Ontario, Canada. The idea is to truly dare to do the things that you dream about. To many of us waste time doing what’s not important. I find myself sometimes using a game on my iPhone for 30-40 minutes before I realize that I have just wasted my valuable time. Focusing on what’s important in our lives os SO important.
It also includes realizing what you value as important. Who you value? Do you spend enough time with your family, your friends, your children? So this holiday season, take some time, in fact take some time right now and write a list of what’s important, what you do with your time and what you value in your daily life. This is the day that you could start focusing on what’s truly important. What you focus on becomes what’s important.

thanks Stu,
I was randomly “youtubing” today, when it dawned on me that I could have been doing something more useful with my time. Your messages are thoughtful reminders.
happy holidays!

My family, my friends, my roommates, me time, reading, school, climbing, being silly and dancing like no one is watching, and camp are all very important things in my life. If it is a typical day in my life, I go to school, chat with my roommates, catch up with my friends, read, study/do homework, and watch sometimes way too much TV…some days I throw in a conversation with my mom just to spice things up. I value each of these things, but sometimes I waste my time on facebook, youtube, watching DVD (sometimes I am though half a season before I realize how much time I have wasted and how much catching up or studying time I have lost). I have gotten better over the last few months realizing my time wasters, but I still have a long way to go. I just need to start setting time limits for myself, and leave my room after a couple of episodes to grab a tea and have some time for me or with roommates!

This holiday season family was a big priority. Someone who is very close to our family is fighting cancer and she wanted to do something special this year for Christmas. Something to create a lot of great memories for her whole family
So off to the Dominican we went. 34 people, 3 generations of families, two groups traveling over two days, and an all inclusive resort = a lot of great memories.
This holiday was about reconnecting with people I haven’t seen since I was a child, and learning about who they are now. Spending time with my family as well, I had some great times with my brother, and my parents.
I found that because of the focus on family, and enjoying each other’s company, it really felt like Christmas. It felt like Christmas on a warm sunny day, on a beach near the ocean. No snow, no cold, no problem! We had a great time, and those memories will last forever!
