Remember that Disney movie Mulan? There is a scene that where Mulan sings about her reflection showing who she really is and who she dreams of being. I remember my oldest daughter Kristina being 6 or 7 and singing that song at one of our camp fires. She was amazing. I cried a little.
The question though, is so relevant? We often try and model ourselves in the image of a sports star, some cool school “friend”, a celebrity or someone who is on the cover of a gossip rag. We get frustrated with ourselves when we don’t measure up or more likely bring ourselves down to that level.
In 2012 why not focus on being the best YOU. Why not figure out how you can be a better person, son or daughter, friend, teammate or colleague. People come and go in our lives, celebrities rise and fall, but you will always be there staring straight back in the mirror. One of kind. Full of potential and yet to discover adventure.
Make this year a year where you start discovering the person you CAN be.
You are truly STUpendous! Happy New Year.

First, let me start by saying, I love this movie!
I really appreciate this post, especially right before the New Year. I often find that we are comparing ourselves to others. We compare ourselves to a preconceived notion of a person. We idolize others for what we believe them to be, wishing we were the same.
Instead we should be focusing on ourselves. There is only one of us and we should want to make ourselves the best we can. We cannot do this by comparing. We can do this by taking a good look in the mirror, reflecting and making positive choices toward change.
I am looking forward to rediscovering myself and my potential this year! I am also looking forward to participating in the 22 Day Challenge!
Happy New Year!

This post is very relevant to me right now
I have been doing a lot of reminiscing this last week while visiting old high school friends. I couldn’t help but think….I am not the same person I used to be.
I have a new role to play so old titles that I may have received before are no longer able to attach themselves to me.
And I realized that I didn’t care if they didn’t notice that.
I am who I am
All I can do is be a better me
It is my first goal for 2012. Among the many others.
Thank you

Ahhhh, I remember her signing that song at the campfire, brings a tear to my eye thinking about that moment!.. I love this post, that is exactly what my goal for 2012 is.. REFLECTION, ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND IMPROVEMENT of myself and my life!
I have always felt like I have never been able to become the person I am supposed to be.. And that is mainly because I haven’t allowed myself to, or haven’t given myself the opportunity to let that happen. Too often I allow myself to be influenced by what everyone else will think.. Doing things or acting only in a certain way just to please everyone around me.. Not sure where my self confidence went.. But it was always ‘easier’ to just sit back and be the person who that I am or wish I was somebody else, than to try to become the person I wanted to or can be.. No more excuses.
Wishing you were somebody else is a waste of the person you are. I feel like I may have wasted a few good years by not keeping that in mind.
So here’s to 2012.. A new year, an open mind, heart and spirit and a better me! Cheers!

Excellent web site. Nice placing comments system. I’m sorry for the off-topic post, nonetheless I had been very fascinated with Djokovic’s play in the final of the Australian OPen this yr. The guy is simply unequalled. He revealed he was as formidable as stainless steel. Just consider about he he can overcome Nadal who had previously been so enthusiastic to gain as well as really was so excited up while in the fifth set. Now i’m starting to feel that Djokovic has been doing some faith based work to take some aids on his side which help him secure such matches against the finest players in the globe
