Long time

Jan 15, 2009

It has been a long time since the last blog… I have been busy. Trying to get my year started and create days full of accomplishment and joy. Life has a way of pushing you, giving you a challenge here and there to see if you’re on the ball or if you are missing the point.

I have to admit to you that it has been a hard start to my 2009. I started a really big project and I am struggling to get it done. I have set myself a fairly lofty goal that if I complete it for 365 days has the potential to change my life. It’s not a diet or an exercise plan, it’s a way of living. It’s a conscious choice to be a leader in my own life, if you can’t lead you how do you lead others?

So I apologize for not being here. I am committed to being better at that. It takes a little swallowing of my personal pride to say that I am not doing all that I can each day. It’s also something that you need to recognize before you can change it. So… I am recognizing it.

What are you NOT doing that you thought you might be doing in 2009. What New Year’s resolution have you had problems sticking to? Here’s the good news, it can be January 1st any day! You can start again tomorrow. It’s your life and there’s no rule saying when you can or can not make a change! So get to it!

Hey I missed you, glad to see that you are back, and don’t worry if you are gone for a while, I am sure we all know that it is just because you are trying to better yourself and the camp!

I didn’t set any resolutions instead I am working now on my six month goals, and so far it is going great! I am reading more and watching tv less, I am paying bills on time, I am eating healthier and excercising more, I am being spontaneous, I am not procrastinating and I am doing things before their due date…(much less stressful this way…seriously I should have done this awhile ago!) and I am trying to keep in contact and write in my journal more. I would say the last one is the one I have to work on the most. While I am doing it, I could be doing better and more, because the more I write the more I discover, and the more connections I keep the better my friendships become!

Gotta jet, I hear my french litterature homework calling my name, well those and my freshly baked cookies (you can’t eat healthy all the time…especially when it is homemade!)

It’s definitely been a busy beginning to 2009, that’s for sure.

With only a little over 9 weeks of classes and two exams left in my undergrad, I came back to school in January on a mission to accomplish alot of the things I’ve always wanted to do, but have never gotten around to ACTUALLY doing them.  I’ve stepped up my involvement in a club, taken a certification I’ve always been interested in, I’ve committed myself to writing the 5 best (and subsequently, last) papers I’ve ever written in university, and to find a little extra time to soak in with my two roommates, who have been my family for 4 years.

For the things I’m NOT doing though, I see an equally large list. However, on top of that list, is NOT worrying about next year.  In stressful times, I find that I create more stress for myself by worrying about distant things.  But this winter, I can’t worry about next year bcause I have no idea what next year holds for me yet.  I’ve applied to 4 different education programs, and don’t hear any admissions news until April 1st.  So, instead of worrying about this and this, I’ve found myself focussing on being present, in the moment, and soaking it up.

2008 was the year of the adventure, and 2009 isn’t shaping up so badly either!

Great blog Stu, nice to see it, and you, back in town.

Your absolutely right. Living each day to it’s fullest and simply relishing the fact that all of the daily 1% improvements add up over time you can’t help but having an amazing year.

I have narrowed my Big 5 for 2009 as follows:

    1. I will uncover my Dharma so that I may understand my purpose.

    2. I will lose fifty pounds by breaking a sweat at least three times a week for at least thirty minutes.

    3. I will grow my monetary wealth so that I have positive passive revenue, a balanced portfolio, and a savings safety net which covers at least three months of expenses.

    4. I will fall in love and share intimate moments with someone I connect with deeply.

    5. I will share my knowledge from the Monthly Coach with my team to ensure that our company and my colleagues have their best year to date.
