MS Society of Canada

Ontario Student Leadership Conference partners with MS Society of Canada

Sep 09, 2008

Ontario Student Leadership Conference is proud of our new charitable partnership with the MS Society of Canada.   Together, with all of the schools combined we have set a goal to raise $25,000. Therefore, we are asking that every school raises at least $250 and brings it with them to OSLC.

About MS Society of Canada

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system - the brain and spinal cord. MS interrupts the signals that travel from the brain to the rest of the body, causing a variety of different symptoms. The effects of MS can include vision and speech problems, numbness and tingling, extreme fatigue, and even paralysis.

Although MS is most commonly diagnosed between the ages of 15 and 40, it has been diagnosed in children as young as three. Canada has one of the highest rates of MS in the world, with three more Canadians diagnosed every day. Women develop MS more than three times as often as men.

Your fundraising will help people with MS in several ways. Funds raised will support the MS Society’s national research program, so that scientists are able to continue to search for the cause and cure of multiple sclerosis. Your donation will also help to provide services to people with MS and their families – things like supportive counseling, recreational programs, and funding for mobility equipment like wheelchairs.

Thank you for helping in the fight to end MS!
